I made a tutorial on my personal website on how to make layouts the web 2.0 style.

Visit www.optionxplicit.co.nr and look for it under the “Learn” page.

I’ve always been fond of listening to classic rock ballad and power ballad songs especially at rainy afternoons. One major reason why I still love rock music from the 70’s and 80’s is that, that’s the time when the greatest guitarists reigned.

Well, my favorite guitarists are Vito Bratta, John Petrucci and Mark Tremonti. These guitarists are well known for making their guitars “cry” the message of the song they play. Sure Slash from GnR got talent but his attitude is a let-down.

I’ve decided to compile my top ten favorite guitar solos and share it. This solos are not entirely from the 70’s and 80’s. It ranges from the 70’s to as recent as February of 2008.

Fightstar - 99

Fightstar is a project of ex-Busted member Charlie Simpson. He has been with this band since he left Busted.

This is the video for their song “99″. It’s one of tamest sounding song from them. If you really want to hear their true sound, listen to their song “Deathcar”. It’s my favorite from them. TRIVIA: ’99’s title is due to Charlie dropping his laptop down the stairs and only being able to use the ‘9′ key after demoing the song. This song actually has deeper meaning other than that.

Fightstar struggled gaining respect from the heavy rock and post-hardcore community during its first year mainly due to Charlie Simpson’s pop-rock roots. I think they underrated Charlie’s vocals and its potential to heavy rock music. Now, Fightstar is one of the biggest heavy rock and post-hardcore band in the UK.

I loved listening to their first album entitled “Grand Unification”. Copies of “Paint your target” and “Palahniuk’s Laughter” are still on my mp3 player up to now.

Currently I am listening to their second album “One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours” and Im very impressed how Charlie’s voice has matured. Believe me this guy can really scream hard. Listen to their song “Deathcar” to hear what Im talking about.

What I love about Fightstar specifically their second album, is their deep lyrics and how they deliver it using heavy, loud, deep, bass-filled rock sound. Their second album can blast through my earphones all day long.

Just picked up an inno3D Geforce 9600GT 512Mb Overclock Edition for myself last thursday.

It’s about time my 2-year old GeForce 7600GS to retire. I must say that my old card has served me well during during those two years. It just sad that I have to replace it. It just can’t deliver the “horsepower” needed to play the games coming out for the PC for 2008.

This is my old Foxconn Geforce 7600GS 256MB card.
oldcard.jpg

It’s a directX 9c card. It’s hardware is designed to run DirectX 9c graphics. It still can deliver all the eye candies of Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Unreal Tournament 3 and all the current-gen games on the PC but not at a decent frame rate. I will have to turn down some settings and run them at 1024 x 768 resolution to achieve a stable 30+ frame rate.

heart1.jpg

I went to the Philippine Heart Center this morning to have my heart stress test. I thought it would be a scary experience but it turned out the exact opposite. The people there are so friendly. They ask me to walk and run for 12 minutes at a treadmill while monitoring my heart using an ECG machine connected to me. Running on that treadmill was fun until I was at stage 4 when the machine was going so fast at 25 degree angle. My feet started to feel numb and I was already bathing with my own sweat. That’s when I told the cardiologist that I was maxed out. Continue Reading »

Well, the most basic of AS is the timeline control functions. Which is:

play();
stop();
gotoAndPlay();
gotoAndStop();
nextFrame();
nextScene();
prevFrame();
prevScene();

With only the knowledge of these functions, animating on the timeline, concept of movie clips and using instance names. You can already build a full flash website. It will not be the most stunning flash site on the face of the planet but you can always trick it out by using your creativity on timeline animation.

Ok. So now, let’s start making the not-most-stunning-flash-site-on-the-face-of-the-planet.
For simplicity’s sake and my laziness also, we will just be making a 3-page site.

First of all, they are REALLY expensive and if you plan to buy one you will have to think about it more than twice and do a research very well because you won’t want to have disappointments later on.

ps3.jpg

The most expensive of the pack is the PS3. Well this is because the hardware used in the console are “supercomputer” material. The cell microprocessor is considered the most impressive breakthrough in CPU technology at the moment. It has 7 cores, a very fat cache and runs at 3.2 ghz. Continue Reading »

I will be talking about a game this time. A game that has touched
my life in a way that I can never explain fully in words.

The game is Shadow Of The Colossus on the PS2.
The story of the game is mysterious and somewhat dark.
The setting is a medieval world and time like in the Lord of the Rings movie.

Its about a young boy who wants to ressurect a young girl who has been
sacrificed in a ritual. He takes the body of this young girl to a forbidden land
into a place called “Shrine Of Worship” where a demon called Dormin lives. Continue Reading »

My Past Habits Haunted Me

For the past years, I’ve been abusing my health. I drink lots of coke everyday and I
barely drink water for months. Coke was my water.
My food intake was basically killing me. I indulged myself in meals that are
high in fat and cholesterol content.
Junk food was always beside me everytime I’m working on something in front of my computer.
That was my everyday scenario when I was in college. I took my health and body for granted. Continue Reading »
